The Leafs defense was piss poor. Left Anderson out to dry.

I don't get the league's fixation with this playoff format. I hate how the playoff possibilities are limited.

The Leafs defense was piss poor. Left Anderson out to dry. Remind me how that’s different from any other game. If the Leafs had even a mediocre goalie they would barely be a wild card team.

I can't believe how thoroughly the Flames are being dismantled by the Avalanche.

All of Toronto, and all Leaf fans around the globe are breathing a huge sigh of relief tonight.
Onto Game 6, and a chance to win a series for the first time in 15 years.

Calgary was absolutely retched this playoffs. They should've been swept.
They'll need a lot of work to do just to get back here next year.

Calgary was absolutely retched this playoffs. They should've been swept. They'll need a lot of work to do just to get back here next year. What? Why? They have lots of talent. They just need to either stick with one goalie or find one they want to start 80% of the time that they can also rely on in the playoffs. Goaltending was the biggest question mark for them heading into the playoffs and Colorado went 8-0-2 to finish the season. They were red hot and stayed that way. Nothing could stop their top line and Calgary couldn’t answer back, so they lost. Get rid of Mike Smith, focus energy on making Rittich consistent, boom. They’re back in the playoffs and hopefully next year Gudreau and Giordano show up.

...Jets I honestly can’t believe it. This playoffs has been crazy. The league really needs to change the format back. That could have been a conference finals series. FUCK!!! We're gonna be out in the first round YET AGAIN!!! This "five year plan" is gonna be a bust! It was always going 7. It is known. When you are facing the SECOND OVERALL team in the league in the first round, what do you expect?

Not that weird when you go 0 for 15 on the power play and you're trying to score on Ben freakin Bishop. I picked Dallas in my bracket but I picked 7 games.
It's the only one I have right so far though...that is until THE LEAFS WIN TONIGHT (I picked 6 games though...moron...IT WAS ALWAYS GOING 7)

The atmosphere in Carolina last night was awesome. All the fans standing during the entire overtime in Dallas. Hockey in the South definitely works in those locations. You just need a product for people to care about, which can be said about some other non South markets.

Throw in Atlanta and Phoenix as well. But, what was/is there to celebrate about those teams? But, same can be said about non Southern teams like the Whalers and North Stars. Even the Senators attendance has been low because that franchise has become a joke.
Where would the Pengiuns be without Lemieux? What about Chicago?

Chicago is original 6. They would never leave the league.
Penguins are an interesting one and I wonder if any smart hockey people have ever visited that. They got off to a real rocky start in the 70s and rebranded themselves in the 80s, then intentionally tanked. The 1984 draft was under protest from the Devils, and is one of the craziest drafts in NHL history. Patrick Roy went in the THIRD ROUND!!
Imagine they don't pull that off, or they get penalized by the league, or whatever. Lemieux goes to New Jersey. That changes the league forever.
Or their rivals Philadelphia draft Jagr one spot ahead of them in 1990 instead of taking Mike Ricci. Another massive shift in how things turned out.

Not only was Lemieux obviously a major factor on the ice he also saved the team from bankruptcy. With Crosby and Malkin the rest is history.
Chicago was onced named the worst franchise in sports. Obviously, they turned it around, and it was really remarkable.
My point is not necessarily relocation it is that some markets especially small non traditional markets need a reason to go to games. It is just also interesting how the same can be said to some regular markets.

More appealing matches have a chance to take place later on. Strategies were and jockeying for playoff spots was all of part of the game. I just never got the benefit from the league's perspective.

BUNCH OF FUCKING FAILURES!!! Oh go away. You're worse than twitter. ... Andersen letting in that weak goal was deflating, but this was a winnable game and the Leafs outplayed Boston for most of the game. Rask had a better game than Andersen and that's pretty much what it boils down to. Oh, and the fact that Babcock is insanely overrated and should be fired. That too. He's a good coach but not the coach for this team. He doesn't take chances and he doesn't play to win. He plays to not lose. Well, you were up 3-2 at home and now you're going home, and it's almost entirely on you. Good job, Babs. Matthews playing 18 mins in a Game 7 is all that needs to be said right now. That's unforgivable.

Yeah. The amount of minutes played by Matthews is absurd. This calls for a firing. Just terribly managed.
I don’t follow hockey much and honestly, thanks to PW, I can’t help but cheer for the Maple Leafs. It just feels like every year is the same heartbreaking story for you guys. Cake walk for Boston against Columbus IMO. I’m hoping the Islanders can go further but I don’t see them defeating the Capitals if they survive their Game 7.
And wtf with Boston teams. The Patriots. The Celtics. The Bruins. The Red Sox. All the state of Massachusetts does is win chips.

The first round of this playoffs has been so weird it's impossible to predict the next match-ups.
Boston SHOULD walk all over Columbus. But Tampa should have too. Tampa played bad just as Columbus' big pick-ups at the deadline started clicking. Do they keep clicking? Is Boston gassed now or are they ready to go? Will the extended time off benefit Columbus or kill their momentum?
Does Carolina upset Washington? Or does Washington move on and we actually get a good series there? Is Eberle going to continue to be lights out or will he slow down? He and Lehner were the only difference against Pittsburgh. Washington gets home ice too if they move on, so that's also a factor that the Islanders had in round one but wouldn't in round 2. They're PRAYING Carolina wins tomorrow.
Hockey is insane to predict. Unless it's Leafs/Bruins Game 7.

This is incredible 4 pp goals in 4 minutes.
Babcock is cursed, this is the third time at least his team has been up 3-2 with home ice and lost in 7.
