I could not believe how hard Carolina fell apart last night. Watching that 3rd period was wild. Yeah the Rangers played well, but Carolina is a team built to weather the storm and lock shit down defensively. All they had to do was do what they have been doing all season for the duration of the 3rd period, and they would be fine.

Instead they allowed constant scoring chances on a goalie that has not been playing well and folds under pressure. Absolutely brutal from them.

I think Florida and Dallas both move on tonight. And I think Edmonton forces Game 7 tomorrow.

Not sure if we have what it takes to get through Dallas, but I'm here for it. We are good at SOG and getting early leads and then forgetting there's a last period. Otter is the better goalie so will be an interesting round 3.

Honestly, I'm just glad Boston (spits on the ground, Dog River style) got eliminated, if Edmonton wins the cup it wouldn't be the worst thing. In a perfect world though, it would have been the Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets, in the Western Conference finals, with the winner of that series, winning the cup altogether.

That's be fun. I'm REALLY pulling for an Oilers win, but I feel like we might see a Florida/Dallas final which is less exciting to me though I don't mind Dallas as a team and they are due a win.

While I'd love for us to take home The Cup, we still have some issues and can be easily outplayed. First being our goaltending/defence. It's not consistent and secondly, we seem to play hard and get early leads and then just forget about the second half or 3rd period of the game. I suppose it's easy for me to say sitting on my couch, but us doing that is more consistent than our goaltending/defence.

Stating the obvious but a huge game tonight for the Rangers. They didn't play well at all in G4 so hopefully there's a response. This is the time we need Mika (who's been pretty horrible all playoffs so far) and Panarin to show up and be counted.

Fuck that was frustrating, they basically turtled after going ahead. Too simple to point to one moment but there was a huge turning point when they were 1-0 up and were about to have a 5 on 3 opportunity only to take a stupid penalty for retaliation.

You'd think Lav has to make a couple of changes for G6 - the powerplay is ice cold so put Laf on PP1, and why not dress Zac Jones if Rempe is only going to get 2 minutes of ice time?

Rempe isn't a factor anymore. The Panthers don't give a shit if he's on the ice or not. Nobody is afraid of him, and he's a liability when he isn't jumping into checks and trying to concuss people.

Rangers have lost their offensive edge. Saw it in Game 4 when they should have just buried Florida and lost in OT instead, and saw it again last night. I don't like counting them out because they're a good team, but Florida in 6 looks like how this is going.

On the other side, I have no idea what to think. I honestly can't believe that Edmonton scored 5 unanswered goals after going down 2-0. I thought they were done and buried. I have no clue how that team finds that other gear time and time again.

They win tonight, the series is over Sunday. They lose tonight, it's going 7. Not the boldest of predictions but I don't see them losing Sunday either way. Downtown Edmonton and that arena are like playing against a second team. It's a ridiculous atmosphere. I'm actually mad that I won't be home Sunday if they punch their ticket to the finals at home. Nobody is going to work on Monday if that happens.

Edmonton still needs to remind themselves that this is a 60 minute game. They should not step off the gas.

I obviously wasn't watching the Rangers when Lundqvist was playing but everyone is talking about how deja vu it is. I've only sat through it for a couple of years, I can only imagine what long term fans are feeling.

That's my thought.

I'm PULLING for the Oilers to win of course, but I'm predicting Dallas vs Florida and if it is I can't help but cheer for Dallas. They have a likable team. 

Edmonton is a much more fun, nicer place when we make it to the playoffs. Everyone is happier and it gives us all something else to focus on rather than all the negative so I'd really love for The Oil to go all the way and keep that feeling going for a few months more. 

EDIT: nevermind. I just watched some videos on yegwave on Insta. We're gonna burn the city down whether we win or lose.

I'm convinced the Rangers will never win the Cup in my lifetime (94 does not count).

It's very deja vu. Last deep run they had when they lost to LA in the finals was almost exactly like this run with Shestirkin. He stands on his head every game, the team does just enough to win, but when they run into a team that grinds them down they don't know how to adjust and they lose.

Rangers faced 3 teams that were more about skill and finesse than anything else and was better than them at that. Then they got to the Kings who just beat the fuck out of everyone in their path and they lost in 5 games. Same thing here. They crushed Washington because obviously, they faced Carolina who is a skill first team and doesn't really have any grinders, then Florida basically played with their food for half the series and just picked their spots and won.

It's a real shame. Rangers have built a great team. They're basically the Leafs if they had a goalie and an elite defenceman, which gives me hope if they fix those things this summer we could finally maybe make a run (but probably not).
