That was an absolute dandy of a game, right up to the end with those two crazy empty net plays.

McDavid with back to back 4 point games facing elimination, the setup for Perry's goal was just incredible. He's got that Messi-like ability to make defenders look like they are completely useless even though they're trying absolutely everything to stop him.

That game was wild. Connor McDavid is fucked.

When they went up 4-1 on that incredible play then immediately gave up a goal 15 seconds later, I walked out of the room. I’ve seen this movie too many times. Florida was going to make it 4-3 and score a late goal and win in OT.

Then they made it 4-3 and the storm was not letting up. I was just waiting for that tying goal. You could feel it coming.

Then…it didn’t. Somehow the Oilers held on, and I am shocked they were able to. Florida was caving them in and had so many opportunities to tie it. When the Oilers hit the post on the empty net I was like “there it is. Here they come.”

But they did it. Now it is anyone’s series. Yeah Florida could win Friday and this could all be for nothing, but Edmonton has all the momentum and the entire city is going to be fucking bonkers on Friday. If they tied the series they might party right through until Monday.

I think some people here have been partying since this series started.

I was a kid when we won our last cup. Some have never seen it. You can bet most of the city and likely country are tuning in tonight.

Congratulations to Florida avoiding joining the 28-3 Falcons and the 2004 Yankees for worst chokes of all time. They got the game back on their terms tonight and going back to RT's post after G3 - are relatively obviously the superior team.

That was easily the best SCF since I've started following hockey, but a very underwhelming final couple of minutes with McDavid completely gassed. Obviously Edmonton rely on him so much but the ice time clearly caught up with him.

People are pretty deflated here obviously, but honestly most of us are just thrilled we got this far. I mean we hadn't been to the finals since 2006 and last won a cup in 1990 so there are people who weren't alive during those times to experience the electricity and got to. I don't think at the start of this season anyone thought we'd be here. By January it was looking more likely, but again if people are honest with themselves they never thought we'd make it to the final. Pretty sweet almost Cinderella story and no shame since they accomplished a hell of a lot this year. Leading the NHL on SOG, Longest winning streak by a Canadian team in NHL history with 17 game wins in a row, and came back after a 3 game deficit to get to Game 7 and put up a decent fight. Lots to be proud of.

And I don't think we burnt the city down so good news all around!

Yeah, good on Edmonton for not being like Vancouver.

I heard it almost got close, but before the game because people were crowding one another and people were getting crushed so the riot cops were pushing the crowd back so EMS could get to people. There were way too many people Downtown and not enough crowd management.

I volunteered in my son's class yesterday before leaving for Fort Mac. We walked to the movie theatre downtown and saw a movie. We walked back to the school around 12:30 and the lineup to get into the fan park was already about 150 people long, and most of them were drinking. Not a cop or security or staff member in sight. I'm actually surprised it didn't get ugly last night. Although I kind of laughed when they cut away from the Cup celebration to downtown Edmonton and it was already empty. :lol:

Sucks for Edmonton and I feel for y'all. I was rooting for them too. But don't worry, I got a feeling Connor McDavid will bring the Cup to Canada in a couple short years...

I was really rooting for you guys, in spite of my Bob/CBJ allegiances. I'm partial to orange & blue and I've never seen a Canadian team win it in my lifetime (I was like 4yo back in '93) and fuck Florida.

Still a lot for you guys to be proud of. Extremely shitty start and then to claw back from 0-3 like that was really impressive. One good thing to take away from all of this is that the history of the Cup is littered with champions who had fell short the very year prior.
